June 2016 Wrap Up!

Hiiii! It’s that time of the month again where i’m going to do my wrap up and tell you all about what i’ve read in the month of June. I’ve read 3 books this month which seems to be my average at the minute cos i’m soooo busy 24/7! I’ve read some amazing books this month though so I’ll get started and tell you all about them!

Here’s what i’ve read this month:

3 amazing thingsThree Amazing Things About You by Jill Mansell: This was such  a lovely book, and so clever! It followed three girls – Hallie, Flo and Tasha and their families and it came across as though there was no real link between them. I had an inkling that there would be a connection while I was reading it, but I was so surprised by what it was!! It was so sad in places, but so beautiful and heartwarming too!! I’ve read a fair few of Jill Mansell’s books (although I seem to discover more and more all the time!!) and this was probably one of my favourites! I loved the characters Tasha and Rory & I could relate to Tasha quite well!

It was quite a fast paced book but Jill Mansell really described what was going on, and didn’t miss out a single detail.

I rated “Three Amazing Things About You” 5*, i’d definitely recommend it if you haven’t read it before 🙂

fracturedFractured by Dani Atkins: I hadn’t heard of this book until I picked it up in the library. The blurb made it sound so interesting and I just sort of *needed* to read it – I started it as soon as I got home. This book was about Rachel who  was involved in a serious accident where she lost her best friend – or did she? The book switched to a different time frame/alternative outcome & it appeared that some of the events hadn’t actually happened. I did really enjoy this book & I found it so hard to put down, butttttt I will admit that the change in time frame confused me a little, and even when I finished, I was still super confused and needed some questions answering as to what actually happened! It’s hard to explain without causing too many spoilers!

Overall though I did really enjoy reading this book & I got through it really quickly because I couldn’t put it down – I needed to know more!! I liked the main character Rachel and I felt so sorry for her, I couldn’t even imagine how scary it must feel to be in a situation like that. I loved Jimmy too, and I did like Matt until about halfway through – yuk! Rachel’s Dad was one of the key characters though, and I think the events affected him the most – he almost made me cry!!

I rated Fractured 4* because although it did confuse me – it was still an amazing book & I really enjoyed it!

towfilwThe One We Fell In Love With by Paige Toon: I was SO excited to read this because as everyone knows I love Paige Toon – she’s my favourite author and I adore her books so much. This one was no exception; in fact it’s probably one of my favourites, tied with Johnny Be Good & Chasing Daisy. What I loved the most about this book is that it was a little bit different to her others, but it was still the same Paige Toon we know and love!

I was hooked from the start and eager to find out what was going to happen, I loved the three girls in the story, triplets Phoebe, Rose and Eliza – so alike, and in love with the same guy – but so so different! I’ll admit I wasn’t hugely keen on Angus at the start because it seemed like he loved having attention off three girls, but my opinion soon changed and I began to love him just as much. This book had THE MOTHER of all surprises, it was literally so so so unexpected – you literally turn the page and there it is! I re-read the page about 1000000billion times and I was still in shock! It did answer a lot of questions for me though & afterwards I was even more hooked than I was to begin with!

I loved Rose the most & so glad she got her happy ending, although it may not have been what she wanted at first – she was so happy, and I had a huge smile on my face at the end (although super sad that it had finished!)

I rated The One We Fell In Love With 5* – of course! Seriously it’s a perfect book & I can’t recommend it enough!

So that’s what I read in June! My plan for July is my current read: Anouska Knight – A Part Of Me, Cinder by Marrisa Meyer and the most recent book in Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic Series! Thanks for reading, would love to hear any feedback & any comments on the books i’ve reviewed! 🙂

Ten Bookish Questions

Ten Bookish Questions

Hi! I decided to a do a different type of blog post this week and answer some “bookish questions” – basically just a little bit about my favourite authors/genres etc 🙂

1) Who are your favourite author(s)? – Paige Toon is probably my all time favourite author. I adore her books so so much & she’s  a lovely person too! 🙂 I’m also a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella,  Giovanna Fletcher, Jill Mansell, Jane Costello, Milly Johnson, Lucy Diamond & Cecilia Ahern! I’ve recently discovered Holly Martin and Rebecca Pugh who’s books i’ve absolutely adored & I can’t wait to read more of their’s soon 🙂

2) What’s your favourite genre?  Chick Lit! I love nothing more than a book about love stories/romance and friendships! I am starting to branch out a bit though and i’ve discovered a love for fantasy books too 🙂

5116843) Favourite Childhood Books? I’ve always loved reading. When I was younger I loved traditional tales – the 3 Little Pigs/ Billy Goats Gruff/The Enormous Turnip etc. (It’s great working in a Pre-School and getting to read them as often as I want! When I was a bit older, I loved Harry Potter, and Jacqueline Wilson was a big favourite of mine too!
I must have read all of her books at least 10 times! (I really want to read them all again now!!)

550x298_jennifer-lawrence-and-sam-claflin-talk--catching-fire--at-cannes-48784) Favourite Book Character? Tough one! I have a little (huge) crush on Sam Claflin & find myself attached to characters I know he’s playing/has played so Finnick Odair (Catching Fire/Mockingjay), Alex Stewart (Love, Rosie/Where Rainbows End) and Will Traynor (Me Before You) are top of my list! I also love Louisa Clark (Me Before You), Becky Bloomwood (Shopaholics Series) and Johnny Jefferson (Johnny Be Good/Baby Be Mine) to name a few! I find myself getting attached to a character in almost every book I read!

5) Any unpopular bookish opinions? Ok, without offending anyone – i’ve never been able to get into John Green Books! I have tried with most of his books but I end up giving up after a few chapters!

6) How long does it take you to read a book? It honestly depends how busy I am, How long the book is, and how much i’m enjoying it! I usually average at about 3-4 books a month when i’m at work, but when i’m off work or on holiday I can read a book in a day or two! 🙂 I’m quite a quick reader but I have a pretty demanding job!

7) Hard Copies or Kindle? I prefer hard copies because I just love that new book feel/smell & organising them and making them look pretty on my bookshelf. I do  absolutely love my kindle though and it’s perfect for reading some exclusive short stories/ebooks that are only available on there, and also for reading on the go when I don’t have room for a book in my bag 🙂

8) When/Where do you prefer to read? I love to settle down before bed and read (although most of the time i end up falling asleep into my book!!) and I like chilling out for half an hour when I get home from work so I usually read then. I also love to read on long car journeys (not when i’m driving – i’m not that good at multitasking!), on holiday, and sometimes it’s nice to just sit and read when I need a break or chill out – so anytime really!

71C29sK5fwL9) Are there any books/authors that you think need more credit/recognition? I don’t think Paige Toon get’s enough recognition – i’m amazed at how many people haven’t read her books :-O Honestly, if you’re a chick lit lover you’ll love her books and much as I do! They’re so lovely and well written, and they all cleverly link in a way 🙂

me before you10) All time favourite book? Ok so I was super late to the party and I only read this book like, last month!! Butttt, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is honestly one of the most heartwarming and lovely stories I’ve ever read! It made me smile, laugh, and cry & I got so attached to Lou & Will, i didn’t want it to end! So i’d probably say it’s one of the best books i’ve ever read. Just missing out on my top spot are Chasing Daisy – Paige Toon, Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets – JK Rowling & Finding Audrey – Sophie Kinsella.

Thanks for reading! Would love to hear any comments/opinions on what i’ve wrote about and of course any book recommendations to my ever growing tbr list! 🙂
